FAQ, legal and tax
The questions we are actually asked.
Police book
Is an electronic police book accepted?
Yes, the dematerialised register is provided for by the regulations. Titan numbers, timestamps and chains every entry: nothing is erased, everything is corrected by a traced cancellation entry, and the chain can be verified at any time.
What do you present during an inspection?
The register, as it reads on screen or in an export: numbered, timestamped and chained entries, cancellation notes included. Every sensitive consultation is itself traced.
I am changing software: what happens to my old register?
It is preserved as it is and remains presentable for its period. Titan opens its own register on a clear date, the numbering starts afresh, and in an inspection the two are presented side by side.
VAT and invoices
How does Titan handle margin-scheme VAT?
The scheme is inherited from the purchase and locked at the moment of sale. The invoice shows the all-inclusive price with the special second-hand goods scheme wording, with no VAT shown separately, as the law requires for second-hand goods.
And consignment sales, what about VAT?
In a consignment sale, the shop acts as a commission agent: VAT applies to the commission, not to the price of the item. Titan calculates and locks that amount at the sale, and the payout to the consignor is tracked separately.
Is Titan ready for electronic invoicing in 2026-2027?
The timetable is anticipated: receipt of supplier invoices via an accredited platform from September 2026, issuing and e-reporting at the following deadline. Titan moves with these deadlines, alongside your accredited platform and your accountant.
Till
Is Titan compliant cash register software?
Titan is designed to meet the four legal requirements: inalterability, security, retention and archiving of payment data. The publisher's certificate of compliance is provided with your subscription.
What happens if I forget to close my day?
Titan closes for you overnight: the day is sealed on the calendar day, the Z ticket remains available, and nothing can be inserted retroactively into a closed day.
Can a sale be corrected after the fact?
Never by changing what exists: a sealed entry no longer moves. Corrections are made by cancellation entry or credit note, traced and chained like everything else.
Consignment and precious metals
What are the rules for buying in gold jewellery?
The precious metals register is kept automatically, cash payment is blocked on these buy-backs, and the written deed and the withdrawal period are handled within the flow. Titan frames every step, so you stay focused on the piece.
Can the client withdraw after a buy-back?
For precious metals, the law provides for a forty-eight-hour withdrawal period: Titan counts it down and holds the item's exit for the duration.
How are payouts to consignors tracked?
Every consignment sale calculates the net amount due to the consignor. Pending payouts are listed, flagged to the manager, and settled through the till with a clean trace.
Data and security
Where are my data and my clients' data stored?
In Europe. Identity document numbers are encrypted, access is role-based, every sensitive action is traced, and data follows GDPR-compliant purge rules.
Does an on-screen signature carry any weight?
It is surrounded by evidence: the signature traced on screen, confirmation by a single-use SMS code, timestamping and encrypted archiving of the contract. A solid body of proof, designed with our advisers for deeds between a business and a private individual.
What happens if I stop using Titan?
Your data goes with you: full export, register included. No lock-in, no retention.
